Five Minute Friday: Present

Today is the day when we write for the love of words and of writing from the heart, without worrying about whether it is right. Lisa-Jo started all this fun, so if you want to join in, just check out her site by clicking here.

You just write for five minutes, with writing abandon, and then you link up with her site and visit the person who linked before you to say something nice. That's all there is to it.  :-)

Today's prompt is: PRESENT

Here I GO:

When my husband and I got married, we planned names for our future children because we both knew we wanted to have kids. Each time we got pregnant, we would go to the hospital with both a boy and a girl name because we didn't know what we were having. Each time, we changed the names around, either because the name we picked became crazy popular or because it just didn't seem right.

The only name we never changed was Sara Lael. Sara means "princess" and Lael means "consecrated to God." When she, our last of four, was born, the doctor said, "It's a girl!" and we both yelled, "Sara!" at the same time.

We had been waiting for her.

Here, almost nine years later, once again, I was waiting for her. And after being away at kidz camp for a whole week—her first time being away from home overnight—finally having her back tonight, safely, is the best present I could ever get!

Boy did I miss that baby girl!

  1. That must have been hard for you, to have your baby be away from home overnight. Glad you both made it through and she's home safe! Many blessings to you and your family.
