Home Eternally

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life," (John 3:16 NASB).

When you think of what will happen when you die, does that thrill your soul? Or do you dread the end of your life?

" . . . it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment," (Hebrews 9:27 NASB).

The Bible tells us that we have all sinned . . .

". . .for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," (Romans 3:23 NASB).
and we all try to do our own thing . . .
"All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all tfall on Him [Jesus]," (Isaiah 53:6 NASB, brackets mine).

But, no matter how we try, we can't "earn" eternal life by what we do.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast," (Ephesians 2:8-9 NASB).

Even so, there is hope in Christ!

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us," (Romans 5:8 NASB).

Jesus Christ came to earth to pay a debt we could never pay.
"For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all ...," (1 Timothy 2:5-6 NASB).

Jesus lived in a flesh-and-bones body while He walked on this earth, so He would be able to say to any hurt or feeling or temptation we ever experience -- I understand! -- and really mean it.
"For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin," (Hebrews 4:15 NASB).

The hope of your eternal life is Christ, the Savior of the world.

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me'," (John 14:6 NASB).
Jesus is the only way to eternal life with our Father God.

"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved," (Acts 4:12 NASB).

Are you willing to surrender your life to Jesus? The Bible tells you how:

"If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation," (Romans 10:9-10 NASB).

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness," (1 John 1:9 NASB).

"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come," (2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB).

Nothing on this earth is worth anything, if it costs you eternity. Will you surrender to Jesus today?
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me," (Revelation 3:20 NASB).
There is no "perfect" prayer to pray when you decide to follow Jesus. Confess your sins to Him, tell Him you acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior -- the One who died on the cross and rose from the dead for you -- and ask Him to fill you with His Spirit. It is easy because Christ did the work.

The next thing to do is read your Bible every day.  Pray before you read, asking for wisdom and understanding. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, which means it was written by men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write the truth.

Start with the gospel of John (the 4th book in the New Testament) and keep reading through to Revelation, the end of the NT. Then, go to the beginning of the Old Testament--Genesis--and read forward.

The Bible tells us that the Word is our weapon against the devil's lies. We need to hide it in our heart to know the truth. It may not seem interesting, or maybe you will devour it as though you've been starving. You may experience times where you feel both ways. Regardless, it is always your lifeline to truth.

If you have made a decision to follow Christ, I would love to hear from you!
