Winter at Highland Manor

Even though it comes late, winter has arrived at our home. Not only is it snowing and blowing, but we have a thick layer of ice in our yards and on the road from all the freezing rain that fell the other day.

In spite of being trapped on my slippery hill, here are my seven (random) reasons to be thankful for winter:

1. Wearing winter clothing.
2. The beauty of snow-covered trees (even though we see them from a distance).
3. It's okay that baking warms up the kitchen.
4. Hearing my children squeal, "It's snowing!" And watching them play in the snow.
5. Enjoying the winter birds eating and singing on our back porch.
6. The cold keeps the spring and summer insect levels down.
7. It makes me appreciate spring so much more!
