POV

How do you see this picture? Are you traveling in a vehicle on this road? Or are you standing there watching where a vehicle has just gone out of sight?

POV--point of view. This is an important aspect of writing, one which I've learned more about through the two-year writing course that I finished the first of this month. Point of View is the perspective you are writing from--first person, third person, etc.

After reading Oswald Chambers' devotional for today in My Utmost for His Highest, I realize how much this also applies to our lives, especially as Christians. He says:
"We are not saved to be 'channels only,' but to be sons and daughters of God. We are not turned into spiritual mediums, but into spiritual messengers; the message must be part of ourselves." [emphasis mine]
For those who follow Christ, the perspective (POV) we should have is God's. I've struggled all of my life with being what I think someone else wants me to be. And, if not that, then trying to be like someone else whom I think does it "right." God is seriously calling me on the carpet for this.

I do NOT have to be a Bible scholar in order to write a good Christian book. I do NOT have to be a creative genius to do a good job raising my children. I do NOT have to keep a perfect house or to be in the perfect shape in order to be a good wife.

I DO, however, have a great responsibility to be a sincere, madly-love-with-Jesus, follower of God. I DO need to allow the things He teaches me to go into the innermost parts of my soul and spirit to change and mold me into the image of His Son, if I'm going to proclaim truths to others. I cannot speak, write, post, etc., things that God teaches me if they only effect me superficially--He has called me to so much more.

God wants me to be a living novel written by Him through His point of view. I choose to yield to His pen. How about you?

  1. Thanks for the message, I feel like you were talking to me, saying "Sondra" after each of those sentences. Without knowing it you may end up being my emotional healer.

Hope to see you and the family soon!
