Kyla's Birthday & Some Other Pictures

Our beautiful Kyla turned eleven on June 21st. I can't believe how tall she is--she reaches my nose now!

We celebrated Kyla's birthday early on Tuesday, because Daddy had to work 11-9.
(Note his morning hair. :)

Kyla loves Littlest Pet Shop, so we got her a French set, which had a poodle in it. It also had a Blythe doll, the newest LPS creation. Although Kyla has never been a doll lover, I guessed that she secretly wanted one. She said, "How did you know?"

Kyla loves Pugs, so she got some Pug thank-you notes, and also a Walmart gift card...

which she used to buy herself an iPod Touch with a cute cover...

Kyla is turning into quite the young lady. She did a great job with school this year, overcoming her fear of math and raising her overall achievement test mean by 25 points! She is very creative, and she comes up with amazing stories that she loves to tell while running around in the yard. Now, to get her to put them down in her journal...

Today, Glen is playing the bagpipes at Mt. Zion cemetery for Melvin Hess's funeral. Glen recently played at the Presbyterian church on Jackson Street, where the Hess family attends. Sue Hess called to ask if Glen would play Amazing Grace.

He wears his kilt well, does he? :)

I've never used clippers before, so I was nervous about cutting Iain's hair. That, coupled with the sheer volume of hair that he has (and that he wanted cut off), made me feel a little light-headed...

Iain loves his hair this short. He said he wanted to be "shiny bobbed" (bald), but I said, "NO!" I told him I wasn't cutting it like this again. It makes me sad, all that beautiful, auburn hair all over the ground. Sigh...

  1. I think he looks great with his short hair. Who know I know someone who can rock a kilt? Great pics.
