Book Review: "Who is the Antichrist?" by Mark Hitchcock

From Harvest House publishers:

"Bestselling Bible prophecy expert Mark Hitchcock looks to the one source readers can trust—the Bible—and answers questions such as…

  • Where will the Antichrist come from?
  • When will he appear on earth’s stage?
  • What is the significance of the number 666?
  • How will he rise to power, and what will finally happen to him?
  • Will we know who he is before the rapture happens?
Using a friendly question-and-answer format, Mark takes readers on a fascinating tour of all the Bible’s key passages about the Antichrist—and shares how this information applies to their lives today."
I was interested in reviewing this book because I teach a class to fifth-grade girls, and a unit that we cover deals with end-time events. It is hard to touch on such a deep subject in a way that does it justice, yet keeps it light enough for their age group. This book was helpful in answering some of the questions that I've been asked in this class (and questions that fellow Christians have wondered about).

This book is divided into five parts:

The Curiosity About the Antichrist
The Character of the Antichrist
The Coming of the Antichrist
The Career of the Antichrist
The Consummation of the Antichrist

Each part answers multiple questions that most people have asked about the person who will one day be a vessel for pure evil unleashed upon earth. Although I don't agree with everything in this book (and sometimes I think the answers are too thin), it is a great resource for someone who is curious about end-time events, or who is studying prophecy and would like to delve deeper into this subject. Keep in mind, unfulfilled prophecy is just that--something that hasn't come to pass yet. When it does, things will be clear to those of us who are ready for Jesus. So make sure you are walking the narrow path--I believe the end is coming sooner than any of us realize.
