All Things Work Together

Today, I wanted to go to our homeschool co-op early to make copies for my classes I teach. I was feeling stressed, and I kept trying to corral my kids into the van so we could leave. I headed out through the garage when Iain came back into the house to grab a snack to bring with him.

At last, we all were in the van going down the road to the church. A few miles later, we passed the Toyota dealership, drove under the I-79 overpass, and stopped at the next traffic light.

Suddenly, a truck from the south exit ramp of I-79 came rolling and bouncing onto the road ahead of us. It looked like a scene from a Transformers movie. Pieces were flying everywhere, and a great cloud of debris and smoke erupted--I thought something exploded--when a car wheel came rolling past us.

Miraculously, the driver was conscious and appeared to be okay, and no other cars were involved in the accident (even though traffic was heavy).

It only took a few seconds for it to happen. If we'd been a minute or so earlier, we could have been right in the path of that truck. Thankfully, God is sovereign, and He knew what our timetable needed to be this morning.

What a lesson in how all things -- even struggling to get out the door on time -- work together for the good of those who love God (Romans 8:28).
