Five Minute Friday: Rhythm

Five Minute Friday, that time when we write for the fun of it, and for the joy of encouraging the person who posted before we did, what they wrote for fun. All this happens at Lisa-Jo's place, so check it out!

And, yes, I know it is Sunday. Friday was a busy day, okay?

This week's topic is RHYTHM

and here I  GO:

It is hard to believe, when you bring a new baby home from the hospital, that you will get into some life rhythm at some point. Even if your labor and delivery were not hard (like mine were), you feel this sense of "What? They just let me come home with this baby, without supervision or instructions?" and this wild feeling inside you—the one that tells you that you'll tear a bear limb from limb when it comes running out of the woods to eat your child (which might possibly happen, you rationalize with crazy i-just-gave-birth logic)—

this wild feeling says that you will protect to the nth degree, but at the same time creates this fear so tangible you can taste it and you wonder how in the world anyone survives when they are brought up by ignorant people who are often not more than children themselves (even if they are 30+ year old mothers, like I was).

And there she is, thirteen years later. We have both survived lots of crazy life happenings, and she is growing into a beautiful, young woman.

I cannot take credit for this.

It is a God thing.

  1. Lovely post!

I haven't had a child yet, but I hear that the fear of protecting your baby is so intense. It sounds scary, but God has given us peace. We learn, through the rhythm of life, to move through life and put crippling fear aside for the sake of our children!

Happy 13th birthday to your beautiful daughter!

  2. I love this post and can totally relate to the feelings you expressed so very well . . . "this wild feeling inside you—the one that tells you that you'll tear a bear limb from limb when it comes running out of the woods to eat your child" and "this wild feeling says that you will protect to the nth degree, but at the same time creates this fear so tangible you can taste it" SPOT ON ;)
