Here lay my beautiful children, who had been up since four o'clock-ish, very impatient with their mother who wanted to make coffee and take a picture before they opened their presents.
I did not take an "after" picture, with the piles of boxes and wrapping paper strewn everywhere, but I'm sure you can imagine what the room looked like.
When you live in a society that focuses on the commercial side of Christmas, cloaking the "need to buy" in soothing phrases about it being a time of giving and receiving, the day after Christmas can be deflating.
But the true gift of Christmas is one that is extraordinary. And eternal.
"And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth," (John 1:14 NASB).
I pray, as you enter another new year, that "Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God," (Ephesians 3:18-19 NASB).
God is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to His power (not ours) that works within us!
May the new year bring you peace in the knowledge that He is at work in you, and He loves you with an amazing love!
