Today is that writing day where we get to write for five minutes without
worrying about critics—internal or otherwise.
It's fun! Won't you join us?
Today's prompt is: FINISH
When you run a race, you need to cross the finish line. Your focus in on being able to finish, and maybe even to finish first.
Life is a race, according to the Bible. You are called to run this race in such a way that you finish it, and finish strong. That means no giving up, not giving in to the temptation to quit.
But there are so many things that distract you along the way, sometimes deliberately and sometimes by chance.
You get distracted.
Next thing you know, you are not running to win anymore, you are just strolling along. Maybe you even sit down and rest.
I deserve it, you tell yourself. I've been working hard, and all this hard work isn't appreciated. Take a rest. Have some refreshment.
And then others pass you by, and you wave at them and smile, not even thinking that you've lost your focus.
Focus on the finish.
Focus on the One who said, "It is finished," when He completed the hardest race ever run.
But, then you get back up and begin again. Running toward the finish. Moving forward toward the goal.
Linking with others today for:
Isn't staying focused on the goal hard? It's so easy to wander off to something easier, more fun, more fulfilling. Only HE can help us run this race ... and finish well.
